Lyrics

Nobody Lives for a Lifetime

My body is a temple,
but I’ve got no religion.
I’m overweight and out of shape.
My butt’s steatopygian.
I’ve got CHF, COPD,
angina, and cirrhosis.
I hope to trade my body in
through metempsychosis.
And if my soul should transmigrate
to another shell,
I’ll go on to desecrate
that synagogue as well.
Nobody lives for a lifetime.
This body’s just a loaner.
When my lease is over
I’ll return it to its owner.

Beer is the bread of alcohol.
Hashish is the halvah of hemp.
My life is not my problem.
I’m just here as a temp.
I only have a walk-on role
in my own biography.
Why bother with relationships
when you can have pornography?
I would rather not believe
in hellfire and damnation.
I am hoping for reprieve
through reincarnation.
Nobody lives for a lifetime.
This body’s just a loaner.
When my lease is over
I’ll return it to its owner.

I never met a substance
that I have not abused.
Whatever the temptation
I have not refused.
I tried mescaline and LSD,
cocaine and marijuana,
crystal meth and Ecstasy,
looking for nirvana.
Constantly repeating
the mantra in my head.
What doesn’t kill you makes you sick.
What kills you makes you dead.
Nobody lives for a lifetime.
This body’s just a loaner.
And when my lease is over
I’ll return it to its owner.
